We have inspired physicians to become Statesman, Leaders, Entrepreneurs, Educators and best Clinicians. Viji Kurup, MD

Viji Kurup MD is Professor, Vice Chair for Medical Education and Chief of the Division of Perioperative and Adult Anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology at Yale. The academic focus in her career has been to investigate and implement new educational programs for trainees in her department. She is the Director of the Yale Anesthesia Media Lab and the Course Director for the Anesthesia Resident Simulations. She has been nominated by residents and received the departmental award for Excellence in teaching and leadership. She was recognized by the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society for Education in Anesthesia as a Distinguished Educator in 2020. She has published multiple manuscripts and book chapters and co-edited a textbook in anesthesiology, the Manual of Clinical Anesthesia (4.5/5 star rating on Amazon)

In addition to her clinical and educational work, Viji holds national positions within the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) as member of committees on physician well being and women in anesthesia. She is the committee Chair for the Global health and Outreach committee in the Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA). She is the Past President of the CT State Society of Anesthesiologists and is actively involved in advocacy efforts in the State. She also volunteers in the community and is a regular speaker at career day for inner city schools in New Haven. She has been an active member in CAPI and held positions as Member at large and Secretary of the organization in recent years.

Nitu Kashyap, MD, FAMIA

Dr. Kashyap is a primary care physician and the Associate Chief Medical Information Officer for Yale New Haven Health. She leads research and population health activities across the clinical enterprise. She has been mentoring residents and Clinical Informatics fellows as faculty in Internal Medicine, Public Health and Yale Institute for Global Studies. She is passionate about the use of technology to improve physician efficiency and mitigate burnout.
