Joy of Giving
Dr.Varalakshmi Niranjan
As I was walking down the road,
A bright lightning struck abode
Soon was followed by a loud thunder
Which made me wonder
Clouds chatter making a huge sound
Da Da Da It goes all around
Meaning of these syllables
Explored by ancient rishis
Da Da Da- Damyata, Dayadhvam Datta
Dama- Mastery over senses
Learning to limit with fences
Daya- Compassion to all
Ability to lift those who fall
Datta- Give as though there is no tomorrow
Give as though there are no bones in the hands
Giving can be in any form
Money, Time, Knowledge, Love
Let it be the universal norm
Everything in the universe is in order
Anatomic order, Physiologic order
Pathologic order, Psychological order
We as physicians know
Even disorder is also a part of the order
Wind blows for all
Water flows for all
Fire glows for all
We work for all
Joy is not to be searched at work
Joy is found in the ability to work
Joy cannot be destroyed by the system
Joy can be restored by the wisdom
The joy of being
The joy of knowing
The joy with no reason
The joy of all seasons
The joy of vitality
The joy of totality
The joy of gratitude
The joy of great attitude
The joy of giving
The joy of sharing
This joy is forever
May the joy be found within
May the joy be distributed out
May the joy be filled with divinity
May the joy be the abundant infinity
